Neck Liposuction
The line from the chin to the neck changes and descends over time. A well defined and smooth neck is associated with “elegance” in women and a “chiselled” appearance in men.
During your consultation, we will examine your neck identifying the skin quality and quantity, whether or not there is surplus fatty tissue, the position of the neck musculature and larynx. Your bone structure and length of your chin will also be noted. Any operation in this area will depend upon your anatomy as well as your desires and expectations. Liposuction of of the neck is appropriate in younger individuals with elastic skin. It will eliminate specific fat deposits and depends upon the skin to contract.
For patients with moderate fat deposits and neck bands, a single incision under the chin may be required. The muscles of the neck may be repositioned and surplus fat removed.
For patients with excess skin and muscle banding, a complete facelift is recommended in addition to the hidden chin incision. The chin position may contribute to the overall appearance of the neck. For patients with a small chin, an implant may be helpful. In severe cases, we may refer patients to a maxillofacial surgeon for chin advancement.
Recovery time following a neck lift or liposuction is quite tolerable. A compressive neck bandage is required for 2 to 6 weeks after the procedure to reduce swelling in the neck region.
