Facelift

With age, the face decends. Both the skin and deep tissues are involved. This results in the formation of jowls, folds between the cheek and lips (nasolabial folds), wrinkles, etc. During your consultation, your face and neck will be examined with attention paid to these specific areas.

A facelift is an operation designed to raise the skin and deep tissues of the face in order to restore the youthful lines of the face and neck. It is adapted to your needs and anatomy. In general, it involves incisions in front of the ear which extend from the scalp in the temple area, around the bottom of the ear, and occasionally behind the ear to the scalp. The scars are usually well hidden and may be concealed with your hair if necessary. The neck may be addressed during the operation to minimize sagging tissue and restore a smooth and graceful contour. Facelift operations may be performed under local or general anaesthesia. They may be combined with other procedures such as a forehead lift or blepharoplasty (eyelid correction).

It is essential to take the time to heal properly following a facelift. The initial recovery may take between 2 and 4 weeks. It is important to stop smoking before and after the procedure. The risks and what you can do to avoid complications will be discussed at the time of your consultation.

There are also several non-surgical options to improve the overall appearance of your face (please see the sections on Skin care, Injections). We will discuss these with you druing your consultation.
